If anyone was thinking of entering their first club competition of the season next week.......forget it!

The last Club Championship competition of 2023, the Open Doubles, was held on Sunday 24th September. 14 players entered the Doubles and played on a typical autumnal afternoon to see who would lift the trophy. The draw resulted in some interesting pairings and there was a lovely blend of new and more experienced players.

Proceedings were halted before the final for everyone to enjoy light refreshments provided by a team of lady members who did a sterling job not only for this competition but for the whole season, thank you ladies your work has been really appreciated.

The final was contested between the team of Club Coach Tony Partridge and new bowler Peter Iles and the team comprising Club Treasurer Peter Yates and Marilyn Fletcher who is part of the team which does such a good job looking after the green. This was Peter I's first club competition and he only took part after taking the place of another entrant who had to withdraw at short notice.

In the event Tony and Peter eclipsed Peter and Marilyn with an excellent performance and took the trophy in fine style.

Our photographs show the finalists and winners collecting the trophy from Club President Don Davies.
