The Much Wenlock B team battled through to the Mid-Shropshire League Ashton Shield Final which was played on the evening of Saturday 2nd September at Wrockwardine Bowling Club, Telford.

They were up against the Donnington Wood B team from a higher division playing on the Wrockardine No 2 green for the first time. Most of the Much Wenlock players found the opposition tough and the green even tougher but nevertheless gave a spirited performance against the Donnington team and their large contingent of vociferous supporters.

Our star performers of the night were the Partridge family....no not the one with David Cassidy, it was the husband and wife team Sue and Tony who both had solid wins. If ever there was a good advert for coaching then this was it as Tony is a British Crown Green accredited coach.

Although it wasn't a victorious night it was certainly good experience for the team which will stand them in good stead for future battles and one thing for sure is that everyone did their very best, so well done all!

Congratulations to Donnington on a good win.

Our photo shows the Much Wenlock team before the match looking a little pensive don't you think?
