Sunday 7th June saw both our Ladies and Men’s Championship Doubles competitions at the club.

It was mainly a lovely afternoon with a tinge of rain and the green was running well, just right for some stern competition from the 20+ players taking part.

Three ladies teams played in a round robin format to decide the finalists. The two teams to get through were Marilyn Fletcher and new member Maggi Kings who took on Vice-President Vera Hodgetts and Club Secretary Janet Good. An extremely good-natured final with plenty of oohs, aahs and laughs thrilled the spectators with Vera and Janet eventually coming out Champions for 2026.

The Men’s competition defied the odds with Geoff Wills and Alan Burr facing Mervyn Jarman and Peter Rigby in the final. It was a close fought affair in the early part of the game with some fine shots played by both teams. In the end Geoff and Alan prevailed to pick up the trophy.

The afternoon was organised and run by Janet and Jeremy Good who did a grand job and even ran a consolation comp won by Tony Swales and Ian Cohen.

Our photographs show the winners along with Jeremy and President Don Davies.
