Fun in the Sun

A fabulously sunny and warm afternoon on Sunday 17th August saw 13 teams comprising nearly 30 players have a great time at our Fun Bowls event.

The teams negotiated a mind-blowing course of 6 bowling challenges designed to test the skills and patience of anyone. Participants ages ranged from 8 to 80, some with bowling experience and others who had never previously touched a bowling ball in their life.

Although many will claim skill was a deciding factor it was evident that a good deal of luck was also useful to accumulate points as they went three times around the course.

In the end Lorna and Geoff Wills came out on top with many of their points coming from toppling our giant teddy bear. Funnily enough Lorna and Geoff’s first visit to the club was to attend the same event last year. Although they didn’t win that one, they did win the raffle and Geoff went on to become a successful member of our club.

At the end of the comp Big Ted (our on-course target!!) was won in the raffle by John Wilsher.
