A jam packed field took to the green on the afternoon of Sunday 26th July for the 2026 Presidents Cup.

The afternoon started with a spider which was won by Geoff Wills who took home a bottle of scotch as his prize. A consolation competition was run in tandem with the main comp so everyone was guaranteed at least two games. The afternoon also saw the return of Bob Mumford to the green after a long medical lay up so it was good to see him back in action.

As usual the competition was intense and a number of games went to the wire. A lovely afternoon tea was taken before the semi-finals with sandwiches provided by President Don and Vice-President Vera Hodgetts. A lot of members also brought along some tasty morsels to delight the palate and which were very much appreciated by all the contestants.

The semi final of the main comp was contested by Jeremy Good and Geoff Wilkinson who took on Julian Rudkin and Janet Good. In the end the trophy went to Jeremy and Geoff with Janet promising not to hold a grudge against husband Jeremy for beating her to the title. It was also Geoffs first competition final so it was congratulations to him and the hope that this was the first of many.

The consolation final saw Vera Hodgetts and Nick Mitchell take on Melvin Bardsley and Paula Sivertsen. Vera and Nick pipped Mel and Paula at the post and although they didn't win a trophy Don had supplied prizes for all.

Our photos show the finalists receiveing their awards from President Don who amazingly celebrates his 96th birthday in August. Well done Don and thanks for such a good day.
