The final club competition of the 2024 season was held on Sunday 1st September under threatening skies.

Five teams took to the green to vie for the Mixed Triples Trophy and the draw had thrown up some interesting teams. The first game between Mel Bardsley, Tony Howells and Nick Mitchell on the one side and Mervyn Jarman, Keith Banks and Sue Partridge took an eye watering 2hours 20 minutes to resolve with Mervyn’s team coming out victors. It was good to see Keith back on the green after a long lay up.

After the first marathon match remaining rounds were capped at first to 18. The final saw Mervyn, Keith and Sue take on Tony Partridge, Don Davies and Terry Yates with Tony’s team coming out on top and lifting the trophy. The consolation was won by Mel, Peter Gyldard and Nick.

The Much Wenlock ladies supplied wonderful refreshments as usual so a big thank you for that. Luckily the weather held out and the heavens opened up as we locked up the clubhouse and headed for home.

Our photos show the the happy winners.
